Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 25, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how the BlindBoard application ("the App") and the BlindBoard website ("the Website") collect, use, store, and protect your information. BlindBoard is developed and operated by an independent developer ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in all data practices.
1. Information We Collect
1.1. Account Information (Firebase Authentication)
If you choose to create an account, the App uses Firebase Authentication to process:
- Email address
- Encrypted authentication credentials
- Optional phone number (if using SMS-based login)
We do not store passwords directly. All authentication data is handled securely through Google's Firebase platform.
1.2. Subscription and Billing Information
BlindBoard offers subscription plans as an alternative to providing your own OpenAI API key. Subscription payments and billing details are processed exclusively by Stripe. We do not store:
- Credit or debit card numbers
- Bank account information
- Billing addresses used during checkout
Stripe may collect and process information according to its own Privacy Policy.
1.3. OpenAI API Keys (BYOK Model)
As an alternative to subscription plans, BlindBoard allows users to provide their own OpenAI API key. If you choose this option, your API key is:
- Stored locally on your device only
- Never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers
- Used solely to process your own requests to OpenAI's services
Any data processed through OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
1.4. App Usage Data
The App does not collect keystroke data, typed content, or dictation transcripts. We do not monitor, record, or transmit what you type or say.
The App may store the following locally on your device:
- User preferences (e.g., keyboard size, model selection, theme settings)
- Custom dictionary shortcuts defined by you
This information remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share it for support purposes.
1.5. Optional Debug Logs
You may choose to export debug logs to assist with troubleshooting and support enquiries. These logs contain:
- Error messages and crash details
- Basic device information (Android version, device model)
Debug logs never contain your keystrokes, personal text, or API keys.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the minimum data necessary to:
- Authenticate users and manage accounts
- Process and manage subscription access through the Website
- Improve app stability, performance, and user experience
- Respond to support requests and communications
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- Authentication data is securely stored and managed by Firebase
- Payment and billing data is handled exclusively by Stripe
- API keys are stored only on your local device
- No personal data is stored on BlindBoard-operated servers
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.
4. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your BlindBoard account and associated data
- Reset your password at any time through Firebase
- Cancel your subscription through the Website or by contacting support
- Access information we hold about you upon request
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address provided below.
5. Children's Privacy
BlindBoard is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements. Any material changes will be communicated through the App or Website. Continued use of the App or Website after such changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
